About The Resort
Located on five acres directly on the shores of Tomales Bay, the Tomales Bay Resort has evolved through several identities since its founding in 1950. From the soda fountain days of the '50's, to the "Boatel" in the '60's, and the "lava lamp" craze of the '70's, the Resort has changed with the times, but has never lost its simple charm.
Once known as the Golden Hinde (read about its history here) for many years, in 2005 this classic Marin family resort received a major renovation and a new name by the current owners.
Today, the Tomales Bay Resort offers Point Reyes destination accommodations for all vacationers. On-site activities include kayaks, bikes, hikes, a marina, a swimming pool, and a boat launch. Private sandy beaches on Tomales Bay offer instant access to the warm bay waters.
The Resort is also the ideal location from which to discover all that the Point Reyes National Seashore and neighboring Wine Country and San Francisco have to offer. Destination Weddings, conferences and retreats are offered at this bayside resort, located just about an hour from San Francisco and other Bay Area counties.
The Resort strives to do our share as a green/sustainable business by providing minimal negative impact on the global and local environment, community, society, and economy. Electric car charging stations are now available and newly installed solar panels heat the rooms as well as the swimming pool in seasonable months. The Resort is recognized as a Marin County Green Certified business.
